Washington Home Inspection License Requirements

home inspection state regulations The home inspection profession is regulated in Washington. Follow the steps below to become a licensed home inspector in Washington.

Washington requires classroom training and PHII is currently not approved by Washington to offer home inspector pre-license training. A home inspector licensing law became effective in 2009, and concluded grandfathering provisions in 2010. Washington requires field training in addition to classroom training.

Qualifications for licensure: An individual must submit the following to the department:

  • Application form
  • 120 hours of approved education
  • Up to 40 hours of field training supervised by a Washington-licensed home inspector
  • Pass written exam
