The home inspection profession is regulated in New Jersey and requires a license. New Jersey requires new home inspectors to complete several steps before applying for a home inspector license. Follow the path below to become a licensed home inspector in New Jersey.
PHII's home inspector training course is not approved for New Jersey home inspector licensing due to unusual board requirements for national online training providers.
Requirements: 180 hours of an approved course of study (with 40 supervised field hours) and pass the National Home Inspectors Examination, OR perform 250 inspections in the direct supervision of a licensed home inspector. High school graduation or its equivalent and E & O insurance is also required.
If you are a professional architect or
engineer, you may be able to get licensed without additional classroom training. Our course will teach you
what to inspect, but is not accepted for licensing.
