Washington Home Inspection License Requirements

The home inspection profession is regulated in Washington and requires a license. Washington requires new home inspectors to complete several steps before applying for a home inspector license. Follow the path below to become a licensed home inspector in Washington.

Washington requires classroom training and PHII is currently not approved by Washington to offer home inspector pre-license training. A home inspector licensing law became effective in 2009. Washington requires field training in addition to classroom training.

Qualifications for licensure: An individual must submit the following to the department:

  • 120 hours of approved classroom education
  • 40 hours of field training supervised by a Washington-licensed home inspector
  • Pass written exam
  • Pay the $720 application fee
