PHII's
classroom certification course in Madison, S. Dakota is approved by the Kansas Home Inspectors Registration Board established by Kansas Bill 2315 which requires home inspectors to register. PHII's correspondence and internet based courses are not approved.
PHII does not provide training within the State of Kansas or to any student who will remain in Kansas while taking the course. PHII does not actively solicit* Kansas students and is not approved by the Kansas Board of Regents to offer post-secondary training to students within the State of Kansas.
*Active solicitation of Kansas students may include (but is not limited to) trying to attract students to enroll in a course (who will remain in Kansas while taking the course) by doing things like placing ads in Kansas papers or running ads on Kansas based TV or radio stations, mailing Kansas residents written material, sending representatives into Kansas to attempt student recruitment, or engaging in other means of solicitation that specifically contacts or targets Kansas residents in order to encourage them to enroll in a private or out-of-state postsecondary school that is offering a certificate, diploma or degree.

To become a registered home inspector, applicants will have to show:
- are at least 18 years of age;
- have successfully completed high school or its equivalent, or are engaged in the practice of performing home inspections on the effective date of the act;
- * Proof of general liability insurance coverage of not less than $100,000;
- * Proof of financial responsibility for up to $10,000 through one of the means specified in the bill;
- * They have successfully passed a written or electronic exam as approved by the Board;
- * Proof of membership in good standing in one or more nationally recognized organizations for home inspectors;and
- * Successful completion of 80 hours of education as approved by the Board, or performance of two years of experience and 100 paid inspections for inspectors in counties with populations of more than 60,000 or two years of experience and 35 paid inspections for inspectors in counties with populations of less than 60,000.
Registrations will need to be renewed every two years.
Registration requirements are effective 7/1/2009 for home inspectors serving counties with a population of 60,000 or more. The effective date is delayed to 1/1/2011 for inspectors serving counties with a population less than 60,000.
