How to Become a Certified Home Inspector in Florida
PHII's Online 120-hour Home Inspection pre-license Course has been approved by the Florida DBPR for the pre-license education requirement. We also offer an optional 1-day field training and exam prep class in Tampa to go along with our course. See our Florida Training Lab Schedule or call us for details.
Florida Statutes Chapter 468, Part XV requires:
(1) 120 hours of approved course instruction;
(2) Pass an approved Florida home inspector exam (FHIE or NHIE)
(3) $300,000 commerical general liability insurance.
Note: PHII students pay just $100 rather than $200 to sit for the FHIE exam due to our affliation with the Florida Association of Building Inspectors (FABI). PHII students also get the first year's association dues waived if they choose to become a FABI member. Learn about scheduling and studying for the Florida Home Inspector Exam.
Our students have had great success passing state and national exams, and you also receive FREE continuing education credits with your enrollment! Please check the website periodically for updates about current licensing laws or call toll free (800) 983-6322
Florida Association of Building Inspectors
We are an affiliate of FABI, which is an Orlando-based home inspector society that is Florida's primary state-based home inspector society (member AF-0038). PHII's course is aligned with FABI's Code of Ethics.
