PHII is approved in Alabama. Alabama requires membership in and adherence to the ethical standards of ASHI or an equivalent professional body that requires approved training. We are approved by ASHI, NAHI, NACHI, and NSHI, the four non-profit home inspection societies and PHII graduates receive free enrollment in NSHI.
There are three other methods of becoming a home inspector: (1) current approval or certification by the United States Veterans Administration, HUD the Southern Building Code Congress International, or the Council of American Building Officials; (2) a high school diploma or its equivalent, work experience for at least one year as a home inspector, and completion of at least 100 home inspections for compensation (3) current licensure in Alabama as a general contractor, architect, structural engineer, or residential home builder.
