Home Inspection School Comparison

COST

Home inspection schools typically charge between $2,000 to $4,000 for a comprehensive classroom course, plus additional fees for field inspections. Schools typically charge less for distance courses, but there are vast differences in course content, quality, and training methods. PHII offers a very affordable price and provides everything you need to learn in class, online or at home.

TIME
PHII's online and distance courses can be completed in as little as 1-2 weeks, or you can take as much time as you need. Some distance training schools, especially those with no live training options, require you to take at least 6 months to complete their course. PHII students receive all materials at once. Exams are graded instantly and can be re-taken immediately. You can finish the course at whatever pace you set, quickly or over time.

COURSE MATERIAL
We encourage you to do your research before enrolling in any course. Examine whether the course is approved in your state and whether the instructors are qualified. Find out what you are going to learn, how long it will take, and how your work is scored. Be sure to talk with a course instructor rather than sales staff. Distance courses should be written concisely,
not pulled from thick textbooks filled with theory that requires you to figure out the practical part.

PHII's "no-nonsense" course material is aligned with national standards of practice and is updated regularly. We teach you the
key information that you must inspect for and include in your final report. Every lesson is concise and written in clear language that is easy to understand. Every PHII interactive course is designed "in-house" by experienced and qualified instructors who understand the trade.

FEATURES
MenuPHII offers an online interactive home inspection training program. Some providers have placed their textbooks online, but without interactivity. PHII's course allows you to interact with the material. Exclusive, interactive features include flash cards within the pages that ask you questions and test what you have learned. Online quizzes embedded throughout the course instantly grade your work and provide feedback so you can identify what you still need to learn. The audio/video demonstrations, numerous color illustrations, and VHS/DVD companion provide the foundation for each new concept.

BENEFITS
MenuPHII offers the only course that can be accessed fully online and on CD-ROM so the course content is yours forever. The course can be used on multiple computers at home or at work so you can learn anywhere! An Internet connection is helpful but not required. Other exclusive benefits include computerized progress tracking, professional report templates, checklists, agreements, and software. You can expect to pay a premium elsewhere for things we provide for free. We provide a turn-key system that is designed to train you and help you get started quickly. PHII's courses are approved by real estate and building commissions, and major insurance providers. We are also affiliated will all major professional societies including ASHI, NACHI, NAHI, NSHI, CREIA, and FABI. To view our full credentials, click here.

FREE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP
PHII is the only school that offers free membership in a national nonprofit home inspector association. All PHII graduates receive a free $199 membership in the
National Society of Home Inspectors (NSHI). NSHI is one of only four national non-profit home inspector associations in the United States. While some schools may offer membership in various for-profit associations, these organizations are not recognized by states such as Pennsylvania, which define national home inspector associations and require membership in order to legally inspect. NSHI is also another excellent credential to place on your marketing materials:

SUPPORT
We have both online and toll-free telephone support to help you through the learning process. When you talk to us, you are dealing with the home inspection professionals who wrote the materials and created the course, not a high-pressure salesman hired to sell their course.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEE
We are the only home inspection school you will find that stands behind their course and guarantees your satisfaction
unconditionally. Our return policy is 30 days. To read the full policy, click here.

Let me tell you about my experience with the course. I'm a licensed contractor, but there's a world of difference between inspecting homes and building them. I learned a lot about what goes wrong with homes and what to look for after, say 10-15 years. I bought this course for my sons, but now they have me working part-time for them! It's absolutely worth the money -- just ask my boys!
